Creator & his Content

There used to be a time when our artists didn't get enough recognition that they deserved. But now we have the social media that helps in boosting one's reach to another level. So, those who makes good content will not go unnoticed. Or at least their work will eventually get the reception that it deserve.
However, the social media is also capable of ruining one's content or alter the creator's approach to his work.

Being a dancer myself, I remember my past days wherein there was only limited access to the internet. But even then, I used to download dance videos in low quality and try to learn from them. Those days my only aim was to learn it properly. Today, I've been spending more time on dancing than ever before, but the difference is, I always have other thoughts running around my head. They include likes, shares, comments, followers etc. Without any doubt I can say that these things distract me while I work but I try to stay as focussed as I can. So now u can see the same dancer in two different time periods. The old one was rather more concerned about his progress and the new one has got multiple things to worry about.

Self fulfillmet is the criterion that can distinguish the new world approach to content making. In the past days, when I was done learning, I used to film it with a phone with a low quality camera. I might not have performed the way I expected it to be,  but I do it again and again until I get it right. When I'm done, it gives me a self fulfillment that is hard to explain. It feels so good that you will feel like learning more. However sharing it with someone was not possible those days, as the way it is done now. All I could do was wait for an opportunity to perform on a stage. That was the only option for a dopamin release. But today that's not the case.

Instant gratification has caused serious impact on the budding artists today. It's just a click away from them, and they wish to get it very often. To them, it's the numbers that matter. While I describe young fellas as "them", I'm talking about the majority. There are youngsters who are astonishing content creators in the social media platform. They are the one's who stay true to their work and seek growth in what they do. However we cannot blame the teenagers for their obsession with social media and it's short term gratification policy. It's the businessmen that we've to blame for playing with one's emotions. What we need to do is, educate our youth about the possible long term effect it can have on them.

Being an adult I am able to recognize the severe impact it has on people engaged with content making. Social media is capable of creating illusions which will eventually result in depression and anxiety. Creators must always focus on self progress and self satisfaction and leave the rest to follow because this is a process and we're all learning from our mistakes. The day you fall in love with the numbers you begin to astray from originality. So let's teach our younger ones about working hard, working smart towards achieving their goals and alert them about what's being done to all of us in the name of "likes" and "other instant gratifications" and build a healthy atmosphere filled with great creativity and excellence.

Speeding Through Content: A Challenge to Our Tolerance and Patience

Many of the leading online streaming applications have introduced a speed control option as their latest update. Seemingly, it is quite a remarkable updation as users are provided the opportunity to manually adjust the speed of the video they are watching online. But have you thought about the consequences this might lead to in the long run? Here's my take on it.  We humans naturally have common innate behaviors that help us to thrive in every situation we routinely encounter. However, patience is one such trait that is pivotal to our existence. With the inclusion of attributes that help regulate the pace of videos to save time, ultimately, our patience level is likely to gradually decline which will in turn affect our mental wellness. Earlier, while streaming videos online we used to watch them at their original speed. But now we can watch it in 1.5,2.0 etc. to save time. This change cannot be taken lightly because once we make it a habit there won't be a comeback from it. Eve...

Mindless Scrolling

Excessive use of social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook can significantly impact one's mental health. If not addressed in a timely manner, it can lead to serious consequences, as these platforms often serve as gateways to anxiety and depression. So, what factors draw people into this trap? To understand this, we must analyze how these applications operate. Firstly, they are designed to allow users to share personal life events with the world. Consequently, people tend to showcase only the happy moments while concealing the harsh realities they face. As a result, viewers are led to believe that their friends or colleagues are living peaceful and joyful lives. This creates insecurity among those scrolling through their feeds, making them feel inadequate without realizing that what they see is a filtered version of reality. Ultimately, this leads to unhealthy comparisons. How does comparing ourselves to others help in "connecting people"? Secondly, there's ...

Reckoning the Child in us

I've often wondered how childhood experiences shape our adulthood. Certain factors play a crucial role in developing an individual's mental state, including past incidents and parental care. A child raised in a loving foster family is likely to develop enthusiasm for others and enjoy a healthier mental state in early adulthood. Conversely, a child subjected to toxic parenting may exhibit signs of emotional instability as they grow older, having been deprived of love and attention or, overprotected in an unhealthy manner. Additionally, past encounters can also manifest in one’s behavior long after leaving adolescence. For instance, if you were bullied in school for your appearance, each glance in the mirror might remind you of that pain. These unpleasant memories often resurface, particularly when you find yourself in situations that echo those past experiences, such as talking to someone new or being around others who fit societal beauty standards. Such inhibitions don’t simp...
