3 Guidelines for Aspiring Artists

The ambition to pursue artistry erupts when we draw inspiration from artists who embellish their craft with great enthusiasm and passion. For some, it might be the craving for the spotlight, while for others it could be the quality of the work they portray. However, to become one, he or she must mindfully focus on a few things to attain excellence in whichever field of art they are in. Being a choreographer for the past couple of years, here are three guidelines from my personal experience that will help you in the initial phases of your endeavor. #1: Choosing the right mentor The first question that arises for an aspiring artist is, "Where or how do I begin?" The answer is simple: find a mentor. A mentor can not only help you learn the foundations of the art form but also point out your flaws and guide you throughout your journey to becoming an excellent a...

New Delhi: A Blend of History and Modernity

Delhi, presently known as New Delhi and the capital city of the world's biggest democracy, is a land that upholds the memories of great dictators, fierce warriors and endangered slaves. Besides, it is the soil that firmly holds some of India's prolific historical monuments like the  India Gate, Amar Jawan Jyoti , and the  Qutub Minar  which is the highest tower on earth made of bricks. Despite said to be built around 1600 years ago, the capability of the 7-meter tall iron pillar of Delhi adjoining the  Minar  to incessantly resist corrosion to date is astonishing and remains a wonder to the whole world.  Red Fort , the major headquarters of the  Mughal Empire  for a specific period is another historical site that adds charm to the vibrant city of Delhi. Also, The National Museum located in Janpath is one of the biggest museums around the globe. Apart from this, Delhi comprises other historical museums like the National Crafts Museum, National Scie...

The Illusion of Motivation: Why I Dislike Motivational Speakers

Recently, I came across a gentleman on the internet expounding on the pursuit of dreams. He proclaimed, "Gentlemen, I implore you to abandon your desk jobs and pursue your true passions! For it is about living the life you genuinely love." The audience erupted in fervor, adrenaline coursing through their veins. They experienced the euphoria they yearned for. However, they failed to grasp that this exhilaration would dissipate once they exited the massive stadium teeming with thousands. A few hours later, they would revert to their quotidian existence. Thus, was the spectacle worth the expenditure? Did it transform their lives from the moment they departed? Nowadays, social media is rampant with motivational videos which are widely being circulated. Besides, their main aim is to create a predominant sense of hope for those having a tough time. But in reality, it generates a false stimulation that is neither capable of changing one's approach towards life nor solving one...

Speeding Through Content: A Challenge to Our Tolerance and Patience

Many of the leading online streaming applications have introduced a speed control option as their latest update. Seemingly, it is quite a remarkable updation as users are provided the opportunity to manually adjust the speed of the video they are watching online. But have you thought about the consequences this might lead to in the long run? Here's my take on it.  We humans naturally have common innate behaviors that help us to thrive in every situation we routinely encounter. However, patience is one such trait that is pivotal to our existence. With the inclusion of attributes that help regulate the pace of videos to save time, ultimately, our patience level is likely to gradually decline which will in turn affect our mental wellness. Earlier, while streaming videos online we used to watch them at their original speed. But now we can watch it in 1.5,2.0 etc. to save time. This change cannot be taken lightly because once we make it a habit there won't be a comeback from it. Eve...

Mindless Scrolling

Excessive use of social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook can significantly impact one's mental health. If not addressed in a timely manner, it can lead to serious consequences, as these platforms often serve as gateways to anxiety and depression. So, what factors draw people into this trap? To understand this, we must analyze how these applications operate. Firstly, they are designed to allow users to share personal life events with the world. Consequently, people tend to showcase only the happy moments while concealing the harsh realities they face. As a result, viewers are led to believe that their friends or colleagues are living peaceful and joyful lives. This creates insecurity among those scrolling through their feeds, making them feel inadequate without realizing that what they see is a filtered version of reality. Ultimately, this leads to unhealthy comparisons. How does comparing ourselves to others help in "connecting people"? Secondly, there's ...
